TŪ AKE WEEKEND

Tokona te raki kia tu, Tokona te raki kia ora

Raising the horizon of opportunity for and with whānau.

WHEN? WHERE? HOW LONG?

1 – 3 December 2017

Te Hāpua Halswell Centre, 341 Hallswell Road, Christchurch

2 1/2 days

WHAT IS THE TŪ AKE

We’ve created Tū Ake so that you have the focused support to:

  • bring ventures (whanau) together to build know-how/ skills and knowledge in an interactive and concentrated learning hub.
  • Take your venture ideas up several gears, moving from good ideas to viable and powerful investment propositions;
  • form a tight cohort of change agents within our community because we know that innovation development needs networks and wider supports
WHO ELSE IS COMING?

Tu Ake is the first step in a dedicated 12-month journey programme for ventures/initiatives supported by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.

This is your chance to ‘step up’.

Tu Ake participants have been selected from an open call out. You’ll be surrounded by whanau who are on the same journey as you, chasing their vision, distilling their plan, focusing their energy, crafting the dream and creating a team.

There will be a mix of social enterprises and commercial entities those in Idea development phase; develop whānau ideas into viable business plan, concept testing & development and those in the Innovation development phase; executing their business plan, set up for growth, scale and reach.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

Over the weekend, teams will work with coaches, mentors and professional advisors to test and develop the key aspects of the venture including: financial model, market testing, social/cultural impact, competitor landscape and pitching.

  • Mentoring will be provided by professional coaches who have a track record working with our people to help them get their ideas and innovations to the next level.

  • Professional services will be available from lawyers, accountants, communications experts and more.

  • Inspirational speakers will include people who have done remarkable things, telling their story and being honest about the bruises they got along the way.
WHAT WILL IT FEEL LIKE?

Energising, challenging, supported, inspiring, sometimes scary.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Your most asset – your time. Everyone is busy, this is an opportunity to take two days out to develop your dream, you’ll leave with months of knowledge.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation and kai are provided. If you are from outside of Christchurch, travel will be supported.
